Army Chief General Asim Munir condemns Indian occupation of Kashmir & oppression against Kashmiris

Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir has forcefully rejected Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that the Kashmir dispute holds global importance and emphasizing the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination.

According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a “Defence Day” ceremony at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, General Asim Munir highlighted the severe oppression and state terrorism faced by the Kashmiri population. He criticized India’s actions, stating that New Delhi was attempting to alter Kashmir’s societal fabric through the genocide of Muslims.

General Asim Munir underscored that sustainable peace in South Asia is fundamentally connected to resolving the Kashmir conflict. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to providing continued moral, political, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people until they achieve their self-determination. In his address, he also paid tribute to the Kashmiri martyrs who have sacrificed their lives in the struggle for freedom.

In his address, General Asim Munir also drew parallels between the Kashmir issue and the situation in Palestine, describing the conflict in Gaza as a major global concern. He condemned Israeli aggression and exploitation of Palestinians, calling these actions blatant violations of humanity and international law. He warned that Israeli attacks represent a significant threat to both regional and global peace.

Additionally, General Munir highlighted Pakistan’s active engagement in diplomatic efforts to secure an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to prevent further atrocities against Palestinians.

The Army Chief paid tribute to Pakistan’s martyrs and veterans, acknowledging their sacrifices in safeguarding the nation’s security and sovereignty. He prayed for the elevation of the souls of those whose sacrifices have ensured the country’s safety and greatness. Praising the resilience and bravery of the Pakistani people, General Asim Munir noted their steadfastness in confronting oppressive forces and enemies, alongside the armed forces and law enforcement agencies.

Reflecting on historical sacrifices, General Asim Munir recalled the contributions of Pakistani soldiers and citizens in wars such as those in 1948, 1965, 1971, and Kargil, as well as the ongoing fight against terrorism. He described these sacrifices, particularly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, as a golden chapter in the nation’s history, recognizing the profound impact of these contributions on Pakistan’s enduring security and freedom.
