Tensions rise in Karnataka as Hindus block Eid Milad procession
Mangaluru: In Mangaluru, Karnataka, a tense atmosphere prevailed as Hindus, united under the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), prevented Muslims from celebrating the Eid Milad festival in Nagamangala, Mandya district.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the authorities revoked permission for the Eid Milad procession to pass through its traditional B C Road, following VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell’s call for restrictions on the Eid Milad-un-Nabi rally.
The situation escalated when police took local Muslim leader Mohammad Sharif and his companions into custody, registering a case against them. This move has further fueled tensions, with Hindus resolving to prevent Muslim festivals.
