Leh Apex Body calls for hunger strike in Solidarity With Sonam Wangchuk

Leh: The Leh Apex Body has urged the people of Ladakh, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, to observe a hunger strike tomorrow, October 13, in solidarity with Sonam Wangchuk and his team, who have been on hunger strike for the past 10 days at New Delhi’s Ladakh Bhavan.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Ladakh is demanding the implementation of a four-point agenda, which includes the inclusion of Ladakh in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, statehood, a public service commission, and separate Lok Sabha seats for Leh and Kargil districts.

Leh Apex Body Chairman Tsering Dorjey Lakruk addressing a press conference in Leh, expressed concern over the health problems faced by those on hunger strike in New Delhi. He emphasized that Ladakh had been facing difficult times, while New Delhi remained oblivious to their sufferings.

Lakruk appealed to people to join the hunger strike to pressure the Indian government to resume dialogue.

Sonam Wangchuk, a climate activist, began his indefinite hunger strike along with his supporters, demanding that the Indian government resume talks on their demands.

The protesters have not been approached by any government representative, so far.
