Non-local assaults elderly couple, attempts robbery in Srinagar

Srinagar: An elderly couple was attacked by a non-local man in an attempt to loot jewelry in Srinagar, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the assailant, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, India, forcibly entered the home of Ghulam Rasool Khan, in Hazratbal area of Srinagar, today. The woman sustained severe injuries to her throat and wrists after being attacked with a sharp object.

Khan managed to confront the attacker and raised an alarm, prompting the neighbours to intervene who managed to apprehend the assailant outside the house.

Ghulam Rasool Khan said that her wife was attacked in the kitchen with a sharp object on her throat and wrists. Her blood was all over the floor. She was later rushed to SKIMS hospital for treatment.

An FIR has been lodged under case number 175 at the local police station.

This incident has sparked concerns among residents about the increasing involvement of non-locals in criminal activities in the region.
