Hindu extremists demand ASI survey of Jamia Masjid Delhi
New Delhi: After demanding a survey of the famous Ajmer Sharif Dargah, Hindu extremists have now called for a survey of the historic Jamia Masjid Delhi located in the Indian capital.
According to Kashmir Media Service, president of the Hindutva group, Hindu Sena, Vishnu Gupta has written a letter to the Director General Archaeological Survey of India, demanding a survey of the historic Jamia Masjid in old Delhi.
The mosque, one of the largest in India, also known as Masjid-i Jehan-Numa, was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan between 1650 to 1656.
The letter claims that the historic Jamia Masjid in Delhi was constructed after the demolition of hundreds of temples in Jodhpur and Udaipur, using the remains of those temples.
It is worth noting that a similar claim had recently been made regarding the Mughal-era Jamia Masjid in the Sambhal region of Uttar Pradesh, which led to protests against a controversial survey. During these protests, police opened fire, killing six Muslims.
