Baramulla residents protest against long power cuts
Srinagar: Residents of Pattan township in Baramulla district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir took to the streets, blocking roads to protest prolonged power cuts in the area.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest, led by the Traders Federation Pattan, blocked traffic on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway. The protesters demanded the provision of a separate electric feeder for Pattan township.
Nasir Bashir, president of the Traders Federation, said that despite being a metered area, Pattan receives only a few hours of electricity daily. He added that the issue had been raised multiple times with concerned officials, but no action had been taken.
Another protester said that they receive only 2-3 hours of electricity per day. “This is nothing short of harassment. The government must address this issue immediately,” he said.
