Protest against rights violations in IIOJK held in Islamabad, AJK

Islamabad: A protest demonstration was organized by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and the Kashmir Liberation Cell outside the United Nations office in Islamabad to mark World Human Rights Day, today.

According to Kashmir Media Service, led by former APHC-AJK convener Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, the demonstration condemned ongoing human rights violations by Indian forces in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. A memorandum addressed to the UN Secretary-General was also handed over to UN military observers.

The protest saw participation from APHC leaders, officials from the Kashmir Liberation Cell, and a large gathering of political, social, religious leaders, and students from Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Speakers called on the global community to take notice of grave human rights abuses in IIOJK.

Prominent among those who attended the protest included Rana Qasim Noon, Chairman Kashmir Committee; Muhammad Yusuf Naseem, Pervez Ahmed, Mir Tahir Masood, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi and Wajahat Rashid Baig, Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell.

Other attendees included Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Farhan Qayyum Abbasi, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Raja Shahin, Zahid Safi, Zahid Ashraf, Sardar Sajid Mahmood and several student representatives. The event underscored the urgent need for peace and justice for the Kashmiri people.

Meanwhile, an anti-India demonstration was held in Muzaffarabad organized by Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu Kashmir against Indian oppression and violence in IIOJK. The protesters carried banners and placards with anti-India slogans.
The protest was addressed by the Convenor of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Kashmir branch (APHC-AJK), Ghulam Muhammad Safi, PeH Chairman Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, Hurriyet leaders Shamim Shawl, Mushtaq Islam, Usman Ali Hashim, PPP AJK leader Shaukat Javed Mir, Syed Asif Gilani, Mehnaz Qureshi, Riaz Awan, and others.

Additionally, a protest demonstration was held in Neelum Valley against human rights violations in IIOJK. The protest was led by Naib Tehsildar Kel Khwaja Farooq Ahmed and Jamaat-e-Islami AJK leader Mumtaz Hussain Payer, with a large number of citizens participating. The speakers condemned the Indian atrocities and appealed to international human rights organizations to take notice of the human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.
