Paris: Programmes were organized in Paris and Birmingham to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people and reaffirm support for their right to self-determination as guaranteed by the United Nations on January 5, 1949.

According to Kashmir Media Service, an event was organized in Paris, France, under the chairmanship of Mirza Asif Jarral, President of Jammu and Kashmir Democrat Forum France, held at 26 Avenue Paul Vaillant Couturier, La Courneuve.

Among the prominent speakers were Hamid Ali, Raja Ashfaq, Zulfiqar Angyal, Imran Rashid, Khwaja Latif, Mirza Tahir Jarral, Mirza Anjum Jarral, Raja Irfan, Muhammad Rashid (General Secretary Minhaj-ul-Quran Paris), and Chaudhry Muhammad Hussain (Nazim Food Minhaj-ul-Quran Paris).

The speakers highlighted the importance of the UN resolution passed on January 5, 1949, which guarantees the people of Jammu and Kashmir the right to decide their future through a free and impartial plebiscite. They expressed their unwavering commitment to supporting the Kashmiri struggle for freedom until the resolution is implemented and the Kashmiri people achieve their legitimate rights.

Mirza Asif Jarral emphasized that January 5 is a significant day for Kashmiris as it marks the international recognition of their right to self-determination. He pledged to continue organizing similar events to raise awareness and garner global support for the Kashmir cause. The participants condemned the ongoing human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by pressuring India to adhere to its commitments under international law. The event concluded with a unanimous call for justice, peace, and freedom for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, in Birmingham , the All Parties International Kashmir Coordination Committee held an online meeting on Self-Determination Day, chaired by its president, Fahim Kayani, and moderated by secretary general Khawaja Inamul Haq in Birmingham. The meeting was attended by political, social, and religious leaders, including Hanif Raja, Muhammad Raja Sikandar, Maulana Fazal Ahmad Qadri, and others.

The participants reaffirmed the right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination, as per United Nations resolutions, and expressed support for their ongoing struggle. It was decided that Kashmir Solidarity Day will be observed on February 5, 2025, across the UK, with events and rallies to highlight the Kashmir issue and call for international action.
