BJP undermining democratic principles and fundamental rights in IIOJK: NC
Jammu: National Conference (NC) Additional General Secretary and former Minister, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, has called for the immediate restoration of full statehood to Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the BJP-led government in India is undermining democratic principles and fundamental rights.
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a public meeting in Ramnagar, Jammu, Sadhotra criticized the BJP for its failure to fulfill promises and commitments expressed before the Indian Supreme Court regarding statehood restoration.
“The BJP’s reluctance to restore statehood exposes its undemocratic stance and disregard for federalism,” Sadhotra said. He asserted that the delay in returning statehood is preventing the transfer of power to the people, which is a cornerstone of democracy.
He added that the BJP should work with the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir to reclaim their lost dignity and democratic rights, instead of pursuing an agenda rooted in authoritarianism.
The public meeting witnessed significant participation from locals, who echoed the demand for the swift restoration of statehood to ensure peace, stability, and progress in the territory.
