Hindu mob sets fire three Muslim houses in Bihar over interfaith marriage
Patna: Three houses belonging to Muslim families were set on fire and damaged by a Hindu mob in Bihar state of India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred in the Damdaha area of Purnia district when a Hindutva mob torched the three Muslim houses and looted their belongings, allegedly over the accusations of a Muslim man marrying a Hindu woman.
Following the attack, police from three different stations were deployed in the area, while fire brigades were called to extinguish the flames.
On January 8, the woman involved was presented before a court, where she testified that she had married the man willingly and wished to live with her Muslim husband. The court upheld her decision, allowing the couple to live together.
Authorities are investigating the matter, and police forces have been deployed to prevent further violence.
According to a resident of the area, this is the second such incident in the region. Similar attacks on Muslim families have been reported previously, raising concerns over escalating communal tensions in the area.
