Frisking, CASOs new norm in IIOJK days ahead of India’s Republic Day
Srinagar: In India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, increased security deployments have been made ahead of India’s Republic Day, further increasing the difficulties faced by the Kashmiri people, who are already victims of Indian state terrorism.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian authorities have tightened restrictions in Srinagar and other towns to ensure the so-called peaceful conduct of Republic Day celebrations in the internationally recognized disputed territory. Additional Indian forces have been deployed, and military, paramilitary, and police personnel are patrolling major highways and sensitive locations.
The Republic Day ceremony in Srinagar will be held at Bakshi Stadium, where security barricades have been set up at both the northern and southern gates. The entire stadium has been cordoned off by Indian troops. Checkpoints have been established at various locations in Srinagar and other districts, where Indian forces’ personnel are conducting strict searches of vehicles, passengers, and pedestrians.
It is important to note that Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and around the world will observe India’s Republic Day as Black Day. The purpose of this observance is to send a clear message to India that its presence in Kashmir is that of an aggressor and that the Kashmiri people will continue their struggle for freedom at any cost until India ends its illegal occupation.
