BJP govt seizes properties of 11 Kashmiris in Kishtwar

Jammu: In a continued effort to dispossess Kashmiris of their assets, the BJP-led Indian government has attached the properties of 11 individuals in Kishtwar district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the police, under the directions of New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor of IIOJK, seized assets, including land worth crores, belonging to the individuals. The operation was led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Javed Iqbal and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Vishal Sharma.

Indian police authorities claim these individuals were involved in financing and planning pro-freedom activities, a common justification used to target Kashmiris.

Since the revocation of IIOJK’s special status in August 2019, the Modi government has seized the properties of hundreds of Kashmiris and organizations, aiming to impose economic hardship and facilitate demographic changes by reallocating this land to non-Kashmiris.
