Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed serious concern over the crackdown on Islamic and historical books in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at detaching the Kashmiri people from their Islamic character and history.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, condemned the Hindutva regime led by non-local Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for conducting operations targeting Islamic literature and historical books on Kashmir. Indian police are conducting raids on bookstores across the territory.
The spokesman said that the BJP-led Indian government is working on the RSS agenda to alter the Muslim character and history of Kashmir by imposing Hindutva ideology in schools to misguide the new generations of Kashmiris.
The statement added that the continued campaign to evict people from their properties, including lands and homes in IIOJK, is solely aimed at changing the demography of the territory.
He stated that the measures taken by the BJP government in the occupied territory are a clear violation of international laws, as Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory.
He further said that after the illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, the Indian government has accelerated its atrocities against innocent Kashmiris and has, so far, issued domicile certificates to lakhs of non-Kashmiris in IIOJK to turn the Muslim majority into a minority.
The statement emphasized that the people of Kashmir have the right to seek the resolution of the Kashmir dispute as per their wishes and aspirations, adding that permanent peace will continue to elude South Asia until the just settlement of this lingering dispute is achieved.
The APHC also appealed to the world community and international human rights organizations to play their role in stopping Indian atrocities on innocent Kashmiris and help settle the Kashmir dispute according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
