Hindutva goons take out rally against Azan, shout provocative slogans

Dehradun: A Hindutva outfit took out a rally and shouted provocative slogans against Islam and the Azan (call to prayer) in the BJP-ruled Uttarakhand state of India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred near the local Jamia Masjid in Dehradun city, where members of the Hindutva group, Hindu Raksha Dal, shouted controversial and provocative slogans such as “Ayodhya was just a glimpse, Kashi and Mathura are next” and “One must chant Jai Shri Ram to live in India.” They also demanded the recitation of ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ in the mosque.
A Hindutva leader, speaking to a local reporter, threatened to recite the Hanuman Chalisa — a Hindu prayer — in front of every mosque across India if loudspeakers were not shut down in mosques. “We will resort to other actions against them,” he further stated.
The mosque head stated that “If they have any problem with the voice of Azan, we can lower the loudspeakers. These issues are being raised only in the holy month of Ramzan. We want to live peacefully and therefore must ensure that peace is not disturbed across the country,” he added.
