Indian forces kill six tribal members in Chhattisgarh

Bijapur: Indian forces personnel have killed six tribal members in the violence-hit Chhattisgarh state.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the six tribal members were killed by personnel of the Indian District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF), and Special Task Force (STF) during a cordon and search operation in the Indravati National Park area of Bijapur district.

Bijapur Superintendent of Police Jitendra Yadav, while dubbing the victims as Naxalites or Maoists, claimed that six Naxalites were killed during the anti-Naxalite operation.

With the latest incident, 259 tribal members have been killed during cordon and search operations in Chhattisgarh so far this year. Of them, 230 were killed in the Bastar division, comprising seven districts including Bijapur, while 27 were killed in Gariaband district in Raipur division. Two others were killed in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district in Durg division.

On September 22, two senior tribal members—Raju Dada alias Katta Ramachandra Reddy (63) and Kosa Dada alias Kadari Satyanarayana Reddy (67)—both Central Committee members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), were also killed in Narayanpur district.
