Overseas Kashmiris vital asset in highlighting Kashmir cause: APHC-AJK

Rawalpindi: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) has said that overseas Kashmiris are a valuable asset whose role in highlighting the Kashmir dispute at the global level is of vital importance.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the speakers, addressing a ceremony organized by Jammu and Kashmir Community International Islamabad,at a local hotel in Rawalpindi in honour of Europe Chapter Chairperson Samina Naz Gill, Mah Noor Raja, Bilqees Sabir, and Bilqees Gilani, urged the international community—particularly human rights organisations and the United Nations—to take notice of Indian aggression in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They said that since New Delhi unilaterally changed the territory’s status, demolitions of houses and illegal seizure of lands have intensified, making life increasingly difficult for Kashmiris. The speakers reaffirmed that Pakistan is the advocate of the Kashmiri people and expressed solidarity with the people and armed forces of Pakistan.

The event was addressed by APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, former Conveners Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Parvez Advocate, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Raja Parvez Ahmed, Raja Gul Zareen, Sardar Kamran Azam, Rafiq Dar, Saleem Haroon, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Lal Hussain Rajput, Sardar Sadiq Mughal, Ghulam Nabi Butt, Samina Naz Gill, Mano Raja, Bilqees Sabir Raja, Sajida Gilani, Rubina Butt, Ishrat Khalid, and Afshan Kiyani.

A resolution was adopted paying tribute to prisoners of conscience including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Masarrat Aalam Butt and Syeda Aasiya Andrabi, and to all martyrs of the Kashmir freedom movement.

The gathering also congratulated Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on assuming the office of Chief of Defence Forces, and offered Fateha for the martyred son of APHC Secretary General Advocate Parvez Ahmed Shah. Speakers emphasised unity among Pakistanis and Kashmiris abroad to further strengthen efforts for the just resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
