According to Kashmir Media Service, the arrested persons have been identified as Farooq Ahmed, Mohammad Shafi, and Mohammad Yaseen. Police claim that the arrests were made in connection with cow slaughter and the transportation of beef intended for sale.
The arrests were carried out by Indian police under the administration of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government, alleging that the act was committed with criminal intent and hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu community.
Critics argue that while the animal trade is carried out by people from various communities, including Hindus, but Muslims are disproportionately targeted under the pretext of religious sensitivity.
Meanwhile, members of the Hindu and other communities reportedly continue meat-related businesses openly in different parts of India, whereas Muslims are particularly restricted under policies enforced by the BJP government.
