Indian Army officer killed by gunfire in Samba

Jammu: An Indian Army Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) was killed by gunfire in Samba district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the JCO was critically injured during duty hours at an army camp in Samba and later succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a hospital for treatment. The Indian Army has not publicly shared details regarding the incident.

The circumstances surrounding the killing are under investigation, and further updates will be provided as the inquiry progresses, an Indian official said.

Meanwhile, panic erupted at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Kapran area of Islamabad district on Wednesday morning when a leopard entered the premises and attacked personnel. Head Constable Kamlesh Kumar was injured during breakfast hours and was immediately taken to a nearby Primary Health Centre (PHC) for medical treatment.

Observers say such incidents underscore the high-pressure environment and psychological strain on Indian troops deployed in IIOJK, where excesses on civilians, constant operational stress, hostile surroundings, and unexpected hazards—from local resistance to wildlife encounters—contribute to a tense and anxious mindset among personnel.
