Pakistan and Kashmiris share common agenda on self-determination & UN resolutions: Farooq Rehmani
Islamabad: Senior APHC-AJK leader and Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, emphasized that the right to self-determination and the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on the Kashmir dispute remain a shared agenda for both Pakistan and the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said this while speaking as the chief guest at Al Hamd Islamic University, Barakaho Islamabad, during an event organized by the varsity’s academicians, scholars, and students to commemorate Kashmir Solidarity Day. The program brought together faculty and students to honor the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people in their decades-long struggle for freedom against Indian colonial rule. Dr. Ata ur Rehman, Head of the Department of Library Sciences, chaired the event.
Farooq Rehmani expressed gratitude to the university faculty and students for their dedication to the Kashmir freedom struggle. He recalled that Kashmir always held a central place in the vision of Dr. Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He noted that the Quaid-e-Azam visited Srinagar in 1945 and demonstrated solidarity with the people of Kashmir. Rehmani said that the Quaid took a firm stance when India, in violation of international law, committed aggression against Jammu and Kashmir and annexed it. He urged the government of Pakistan to align its Kashmir policy in line with the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal to thwart India’s nefarious colonial designs.
He further called on academicians, politicians, and defense experts in Pakistan to work together to devise strategies supporting the freedom movement in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Other speakers, including Dr. Ata ur Rehman, Prof. Shakeel Ahmad, and Muhammad Rafi Nadeem, reaffirmed their commitment to raise awareness about Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir and inspiring students to actively support the cause.
