Watchman dies, property worth millions gutted in massive IIOJK fire incidents

Srinagar, February 19 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a devastating fire late night claimed the life of a watchman and reduced a hardware godown to ashes in the Gonipora Babagund area of Rafiabad in Baramulla district, causing property damage estimated to be worth crores of rupees.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the fire broke out at a hardware godown owned by Mohammad Akhbar Butt, a resident of Gonipora Babagund Rafiabad. The blaze erupted late at night and within a short span of time engulfed the entire structure, leaving little chance for salvage. The godown was completely gutted in the inferno.

Tragically, a watchman identified as Bashir Ahmad Peer, a resident of Babagund Rafiabad, lost his life in the incident. His death has sent shockwaves across the locality, with residents expressing deep sorrow over the loss.

Meanwhile, local residents have appealed to the government, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, and other concerned authorities to expedite the damage assessment process and extend financial assistance to the affected owner.

In a separate incident, a massive fire broke out in the Lal Bazar area of Srinagar, gutting two residential houses and triggering panic among local residents. Four residential houses, including its attic, were damaged in the blaze, but no loss of life or injuries was reported.

The cause of both fires is under investigation, while locals did not rule out the involvement of a suspicious hand in the incidents.
