Mirwaiz urges faith, unity, and patience amid challenges in IIOJK
Says Ramzan a time to reconnect with core Islamic values

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has urged people to move away from despair and embrace hope and faith, describing Ramazan as a month of spiritual renewal and collective reform.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz was addressing thousands of worshippers, including a large number of women, gathered at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar today to offer congregational prayers on the first Friday of the holy month of Ramazan. The occasion was marked by deep spirituality and devotion, reflecting the enduring faith and unity of the Kashmiri people.
The Mirwaiz highlighted that the Jamia Masjid has, for centuries, symbolized faith, unity, patience, and steadfastness for the people of Kashmir, and said that the sacred month provides an opportunity to reconnect with these enduring values.
Referring to the challenges faced by the people, the Mirwaiz said that Ramazan comes as a mercy in times of uncertainty and hardship. Quoting the Qur’anic verse, “Indeed, with hardship comes ease” (94:6), he urged people to move away from despair and embrace hope and faith.
He also announced that he will deliver a sermon tomorrow at Naqshband Sahib Shrine before Asr prayers on the occasion of Youm-e-Wisal of the beloved daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Khatoon-e-Jannat Hazrat Fatimah (RA).
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq concluded with prayers for acceptance of fasts and supplications, relief for those in distress, stability in the region, and unity among the people during the blessed month of Ramazan.
