Netanyahu praises Modi as ‘more than a friend’ amidst global isolation over Gaza war

Tel Aviv: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu showered praises on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him “more than a friend” and thanking him for standing by Israel’s side as many world leaders are shunning Netanyahu due to Israel’s brutal human rights record in Palestine and Gaza.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Netanyahu highlighted the strong personal chemistry between the two, recalling their viral photo from 2017 and Modi’s unwavering support for Israel despite the global criticism of the Jewish state over bloodbath in Gaza. “You didn’t flinch or waver, you stood by Israel and stood by the Jews. Thank you,” Netanyahu said.

The Israeli premier called the relationship “an enormous force multiplier.” However, many are criticizing Modi for standing by Netanyahu amidst global outrage over Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Pertinently, several world leaders have distanced themselves from Netanyahu due to his government’s handling of the Gaza conflict. Modi’s support for Israel has been met with widespread criticism, with many questioning his stance on human rights and international law.

The contrast between Netanyahu’s warm reception of Modi and the global isolation he faces highlights the complexities of international diplomacy and the challenges of balancing national interests with human rights concerns.
