Srinagar,: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned the raid and subsequent declaration of Darul Uloom Jamia Siraj-ul-Uloom in Shopian as an “unlawful entity” under India’s draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar described the move by the BJP-led administration as yet another blatant attack on religious and educational institutions in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at suppressing the Kashmiri people’s identity and aspirations.

The spokesman said Kashmir stands as a potential flashpoint in South Asia, not an internal matter for India. “The unresolved Kashmir dispute poses a significant risk of igniting a nuclear conflict in the region. It is crucial for the international community to address the Kashmir issue to prevent catastrophic consequences,” he stressed.

“The escalating situation in IIOJK demands urgent global intervention to avert a potential disaster. The UN must take decisive action to resolve the Kashmir conflict and mitigate the risk of nuclear escalation. The simmering Kashmir crisis underscores the need for immediate and effective global engagement.”

The APHC said a just and comprehensive solution to the Kashmir dispute is essential for lasting peace in South Asia. “The world’s indifference to Kashmiris’ plight could lead to dire consequences for regional and global security.”

The spokesman warned that continued repression of religious institutions, combined with demographic changes and denial of basic rights, is further intensifying resentment among the Kashmiri people and heightening tensions across the Line of Control.

Pakistan has repeatedly called for meaningful international engagement to resolve the long-standing dispute in accordance with UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people. KMS-14K
