Agha Hassan calls for Indo-Pak dialogue, says war no option for nuclear neighbours
Condemns ban on Jamia Siraj-ul-Uloom, urges total ban on alcohol in IIOJK

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior APHC leader and President of Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian, Agha Syed Hassan Mosavi Al-Safavi, has welcomed suggestions for the resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan, stressing that disputes can only be resolved through talks and discussions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Agha Syed Hassan was responding to growing voices in India that have recently emerged in support of the resumption of Indo-Pak talks. Addressing Friday Congregations at Markazi Imam Bargha in Budgam, he said such a move would provide a huge sigh of relief to the people living on both sides of Line of Control (LoC).
He emphasized that New Delhi and Islamabad should resolve their matters through dialogue, stating that war is not a solution to any issue, especially in the presence of nuclear weapons. He said India and Pakistan cannot afford another war and must return to the negotiating table.
He also strongly condemned the recent banning of Jamia Sirja-ul-Uloom in Shopian under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), terming the move a flagrant injustice against the poor and underprivileged sections of society.
He said the institution served as a beacon of quality education for students unable to afford expensive schooling. “Banning these altruistic institutions without any solid evidence of anti-India activity shows a deep seated prejudice & ill intention,” he added.
Expressing concern over the growing normalisation of alcohol by the Indian authorities, Agha Hassan warned against efforts to promote liquor in IIOJK and called for a total ban on its sale and consumption in the territory.
