Indian forces raid multiple locations in Baramulla, harass civilians during searches

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian forces’ personnel conducted raids at more than 15 locations across Sopore area of Baramulla district, subjecting residents to harassment and intimidation.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian paramilitary forces and police carried out extensive searches in Jamia Qadeem, Naseem Bagh, Krankshivan, Tarzoo, Amargarh, Warpora, Bomai, Boitingoo and other areas of Sopore in connection with a fabricated case registered under draconian the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Indian officials claimed the raids were part of an ongoing investigation into alleged activities related to religious-political organisation Jamaat-e-Islami and its associates operating in the area.

During the raids, Indian forces’ personnel seized documents, digital devices and other materials, while harassing residents, including women and children, further deepening fear among the Kashmiris.

Notably, the BJP-led Indian government banned Jamaat-e-Islami in IIOJK in February 2019, accusing it of supporting the Kashmiris’ legitimate freedom movement. Since then, several of its leaders, including its chief Abdul Hamid Fayaz, have remained in custody.
