Islamophobic song blares at Ram Temple celebration in Lucknow
Lucknow: A video from Hazratganj area of Lucknow, the in capital of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, showing a group of Hindutva members dancing to an Islamophobic song has triggered outrage on social media.
Critics of Hindutva politics shared the video to depict the anti-Muslim hate beneath the Ram Temple celebration.
The gathering is considered part of the celebration of the inauguration of Ram Temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya city on the site of the demolished Babri Masjid.
“Do listen to this song. To go to a Muslim locality and celebrate Ram Mandir inauguration with this song. And you still think this is about faith? Is this how you want to raise your kids? Is this the culture you want to normalise? Why send your kids to Ivy leagues, why give them quality education, let them be a part of this crass revelry,” Journalist Rana Ayyub wrote on Instagram about the video.
In response to the outrage, Lucknow Police have tweeted that the incident will be investigated.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the Hindu temple in Ayodhya upon the ruins of the Babri Masjid Mosque.
