Rehmani slams Modi regime’s suppression of Kashmiris’ religious freedom

Islamabad: Muhmmad Farooq Rehmani, senior APHC-AJK leader and Chairman of J&K People’s Freedom League, has strongly condemned Modi-led Indian government for denying the Kashmiri Muslims their fundamental religious right to offer Eid-Al-Adha prayers at Srinagar’s Eidgah and Jamia-Masjid.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Farooq Rehmani deplored that this has been sixth time in a row that the Kashmiri Muslims were barred from offering Eid prayers at these two religious centers. He termed this a horrifying infringement of Kashmiri Muslims’ religious rights, adding this serious violation was unacceptable to Muslims.

Rehmani also strongly reacted to the strangulation of press freedom in IIOJK and urged the international human rights bodies and the United Nations to take note of India’s intensifying suppression in the occupied territory. He emphasized the determination of Kashmiris to continue their struggle for self-determination, despite India’s repressive policies.

Rehmani also denounced the prosecution of renowned Indian writer and critic Arundhati Roy under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for her political views. He said that the racist BJP leadership has not learned anything from the results of the recently held general elections in the country and continues to follow the policy of repression.
