Indian Army boosts its arsenal in IIOJK to terrorize Kashmiris
Jammu: Indian Army’s Northern Command, which is conducting operations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, is set to enhance its arsenal with a new weapon aimed at terrorizing the people of the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Northern Command will soon induct the ASMI submachine gun, for which an order worth crores has already been placed. Indian media reports indicated that the Northern Command has placed an order of around 500 ASMI submachine guns.
Developed by the New Delhi-based Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboration with the Indian Army, the ASMI is a lightweight weapon with a firing rate of 800 rounds per minute and a magazine capacity of 32 rounds. It weighs 10-15% less than comparable international weapons like the Uzi and Heckler & Koch’s MP5.
While an Indian official stated that the ASMI is designed to enhance the Northern Command’s operational capabilities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the induction of this advanced weaponry is seen as a move to further arm the already heavily equipped Indian troops. These troops have been using their arsenal to suppress the Kashmiris in the occupied territory.
