IIOJK apple industry on brink of collapse as Indian market floods wih foreign imports
Srinagar: The apple industry in occupied Jammu and Kashmir is facing an unprecedented crisis as the Modi regime encourages importers to flood Indian markets with apples from countries like South Africa, deliberately attempting to dent Kashmir’s apple industry.
According to Kashmir Media Service, despite producing high-quality apples, Kashmir’s growers struggle to sell their produce due to the influx of foreign imports. Over 10% of last year’s apple crop remains in cold storage units, with prices plummeting to an all-time low.
Growers and traders urge authorities to regulate imports and protect the local industry, warning that the crisis will devastate the apple industry and affect thousands of farmers and traders who depend on it.
The future of Kashmir’s apple industry hangs in the balance as the situation worsens.
