No attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, says Fact-Check

Dhaka: A fact-check revealed that there was no attack on Hindus in Bangladesh.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the video, currently promoted by Indian Hindutva groups on social media, which claimed attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh and Hindus are being forced to jump from rooftops to escape brutality, is false, said a fact-check report.

The video, dated August 5, 2024, does not depict any religious violence against Hindus. Instead, it shows an incident involving a police building in Keraniganj, Dhaka. The building in question is the office of DB South, Dhaka Zilla. The incident occurred after Sheikh Hasina’s fall from power, leading to public unrest due to the police’s harsh actions against civilian and student protests, Vartha Bharati reported.

It is important to note that “Bangladesh Police” are visible on the building’s nameplate in the video, further confirming that the video has no connection to any religious violence.

Fake News. It’s a police building.
