Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and its constituents have paid glowing tributes to veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani on his third martyrdom anniversary.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Syed Ali Gilani passed away on this day in 2021, while under house arrest at his residence in Srinagar, where he had been confined for over a decade.

Illegally detained APHC Chairman Masarat Aalam Butt and Shabbir Ahmad Shah in their messages from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail, said that iconic leader Syed Ali Gilani’s stance on the Kashmir dispute was a symbol of Kashmiris’ resistance struggle.

They said Syed Ali Gilani’s impact lies on his unwavering belief that India will never succeed in extinguishing the Kashmiri people’s desire for freedom. They underscored that Gilani’s slogan, “Hum Pakistani Hain, Pakistan Hamara Hai,” remains a powerful symbol of his vision for Kashmir.

APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement in Srinagar, paying tributes to Syed Ali Gilani, said that the people of Kashmir would also renew their pledge that the mission of the veteran Hurriyat leader and other martyrs of the Kashmir freedom movement will be accomplished at any cost.

He appealed to the people to demonstrate unity, stating that the best way to pay tribute to the martyrs is to carry forward their mission.

Hurriyat leaders, including Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Fayyaz Hussain Jafari and Syed Sibte Shabbir Qumi in their statements in Srinagar said that Syed Ali Gilani’s enduring struggle for the freedom of Kashmir continues to inspire those who yearn for peace and justice.

They said that Syed Ali Gilani was a very far-sighted and principled leader who throughout his life continued a tireless struggle for freedom from Indian occupation and the Kashmiris right to self-determination.

They said the Kashmiri people are determined to carry out the mission of their great leader to its logical conclusion and the day is not far when the sacrifices of Syed Ali Gilani and other lakhs of martyrs will bring positive results and Jammu and Kashmir will be freed from illegal Indian rule and become part of Pakistan.
