Protest held outside Indian embassy in Brussels

Brussels: Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) staged a protest outside the Indian embassy in Brussels on Sunday, marking the 77th anniversary of India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, this event, observed annually as Black Day, drew Kashmiris from Europe, including Belgium, and supporters from various non-governmental organizations.

Chairman Ali Raza Syed emphasized KC-EU’s demand for New Delhi to end the occupation and grant Kashmiris self-determination rights. He condemned India’s 1947 invasion, calling it a “darkest day” in Kashmir’s history, violating international norms and human values ³.

Syed stressed Kashmiris’ rejection of India’s occupation, seeking a free environment to determine their future. He criticized India’s democracy claims, highlighting suppression and violence against Kashmiris. For over seven decades, Indian authorities have perpetrated violence, fueling fear among Kashmir’s people.

KC-EU’s protest aimed to convey this message to the Indian government. Syed urged global powers to support Kashmiris’ self-determination struggle. He emphasized the connection between Kashmir’s peace and regional prosperity.

Other speakers denounced Indian atrocities, demanding freedom for Jammu and Kashmir. The protest highlighted KC-EU’s unwavering commitment to Kashmiris’ rights.
