Preparations for Kashmir Solidarity Day reviewed in high-level meeting in Islamabad

Islamabad: A high-level meeting chaired by Shabir Ahmed Usmani, Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit-Baltistan, took place to review the preparations for the upcoming Kashmir Solidarity Day, which will be observed on February 5.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the meeting, held at the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Council in Islamabad, was attended by senior officials, including Federal Secretary for Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Tahir, Additional Secretary Kashmir Affairs & GB Kamran Rehman Khan, Joint Secretary Hamid Khan, Joint Secretary Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council Ali Akbar Khattak, and Joint Secretary Gilgit Baltistan Council Sudheer Khattak. Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu Kashmir (APHC-AJK), also participated in the deliberations.

The primary agenda of the meeting was to discuss and finalize a comprehensive plan for the nationwide events commemorating Kashmir Solidarity Day. Shabir Ahmed Usmani emphasized that the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, along with other government departments, have commenced preparations to observe the day with national unity and commitment. He affirmed that the entire nation will stand in solidarity with the Kashmiri people, reaffirming their support for the Kashmiris’ inalienable right to self-determination, as outlined in United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

Representatives from various ministries, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Information and Broadcasting, Interior, Information Technology, and Telecom, as well as Islamabad Police, Capital Development Authority (CDA), and Ministry of Education, were present to provide input on coordinating nationwide activities. Additionally, focal persons from provincial governments, AJK, and Gilgit-Baltistan participated, contributing to the planning of regional events to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day.

The meeting underscored the significance of observing Kashmir Solidarity Day as a means of reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the Kashmir cause and highlighting the ongoing struggle of Kashmiris for their fundamental rights.
