Pakistan Army slams Indian Army Chief’s false terrorism claims

Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Army has strongly reacted to the recent statement made by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, calling his claim that Pakistan is the epicentre of terrorism, a misrepresentation of facts.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a statement issued by the Army’s Public Relations (ISPR) said that General Dwivedi’s remarks are an attempt to revive a failed narrative. The statement further noted that the Indian Army Chief personally oversaw brutal repression of the Kashmiri people in occupied Kashmir, and his comments are an attempt to divert attention from India’s atrocities in the territory.

Pakistan Army Spokesperson in a strongly-worded response said: “Insinuating Pakistan as the epicentre of terrorism by the Indian Army chief is not only contrary to facts but also an exercise in futility to beat the dead horse of India’s default position — blaming Pakistan for indigenous reaction to state-sponsored brutality. It is a classic case of extreme duplicity.”

The statement from the Pakistan Army came in response to Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi’s remarks during a press conference on Monday, ahead of India’s Army Day, when he claimed that in 2024, 60 percent of the freedom fighters martyred in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir were allegedly of Pakistani origin.

The Pakistan Army spokesperson pointed out that these statements are designed to distract from the internal repression of minorities in India and the international pressure against the country’s actions. Such politically charged statements, the spokesperson said, reflect the politicized mindset of the Indian military, and Pakistan firmly rejects these baseless allegations.

The spokesperson emphasized that the world has witnessed the rise of hateful gatherings by Hindu extremists in India, where calls for the genocide of Muslims are being openly made. The statements by the Indian Army Chief, he added, are politically motivated, and efforts to suppress the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination will ultimately fail. The atrocities against minorities in India and the increasing number of hate-fueled incidents are evident to the international community.

Referring to Indian spy agent Kulbhushan Jadhav’s 2016 arrest, who confessed to fomenting terrorism in Balochistan and Karachi, the spokesperson said: “The sobering fact that a senior serving Indian military officer is in Pakistan’s custody, caught red-handed while orchestrating acts of terror against innocent civilians inside Pakistan, seems to have been conveniently ignored by the Indian Army General.”

Furthermore, the spokesperson stated that India’s propaganda will not weaken the resolve of the Kashmiri people. The actions of the Indian military in Kashmir are blatant violations of human rights. He also noted that the plans for the genocide of Muslims in India have been exposed to the global community. The Indian Army Chief’s irresponsible statement is completely divorced from reality, and instead of deceiving itself, India must acknowledge the ground realities.
