Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan attacked with knife at Mumbai home
Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder with a knife at his Bandra residence in Mumbai early Thursday, raising alarms about escalating extremism and threats to prominent figures especially those from the entertainment industry and minority communities in India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the 54-year-old actor sustained injuries in the attack, which occurred at around 2:30 am. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is now reported to be out of danger.
Police have detained three individuals working in Khan’s household for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. Initial reports suggest that an unidentified intruder entered the premises and engaged in a scuffle with the actor.
The attack on Saif Ali Khan comes amidst growing concerns over rising intolerance and extremism in India, where public figures—especially those from the entertainment industry and minority communities—are increasingly targeted.
Over the past few years, actors, filmmakers, and artists have faced threats, online harassment, and even physical violence for their work, religious identity, or public statements. Saif Ali Khan, a prominent Muslim actor married to actress Kareena Kapoor, has previously been subjected to trolling and vitriol from extremist groups.
