Doctors protest over depriving Kashmir valley from courses exam

Srinagar : Doctors in the Kashmir valley have expressed their disappointment over the Delhi-run National Board of Examinations (NBE) once again failing to allot a National Eligibility Entrance Test for Super Speciality Courses (NEET-SS) centre in Srinagar, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, this year.
According to Kashmir Media Service, as a result, over a thousand doctors aspiring to pursue super-speciality courses will have to travel to Jammu next month to sit for the examination.
This is not the first time Kashmir has been denied a NEET-SS centre, the doctors said and said that this situation has persisted since 2022, forcing candidates to travel to Jammu or other cities to take the exam. They view it as a conspiracy against the aspirants hailing particularly from the Kashmir valley.
The IIOJK chapter of the United Doctors’ Front (UDF) has been raising the issue for a long time. The association has already written to the Health Secretary and is awaiting a response.
Aspirants have taken to social media to voice their frustration. One doctor wrote on X , “The NEET-SS information bulletin is out, and yet again, Kashmir has been denied an exam centre. Aspirants now face the burden of travelling far, that too on the sacred day of Eid—when families come together, but we will be away, chasing our dreams.”
