CPI stages protest in Jammu, demands restoration of IIOJK’s statehood

Jammu: Communist Party of India (CPI) chapter in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir staged a protest demonstration in Jammu, demanding early restoration of statehood.

According to Kashmir Media Service, scores of CPI-IIOJK workers gathered outside the Press Club Jammu and raised slogans in favour of the restoration of statehood and denouncing the continued bureaucratic rule imposed by New Delhi.

Addressing the protest, CPI-IIOJK secretary G M Mizrab said that dual power structure imposed by BJP-led Indian government is not acceptable to the people of the territory. He emphasize that that people of IIOJK had voted in large numbers for a democratic government, yet the Indian government is not allowing the territory’s elected government to function smoothly.

He further stated that the IIOJK people have suffered terribly since 2019 due to a protracted bureaucratic rule.

Other CPI leaders, including Rakesh Sharma and Kurheed Ahmad Bhat, also spoke at the demonstration, stressing that statehood is a fundamental right and the pressing need of the IIOJK people. They urged the Indian government to restore it without further delay.
