India’s declining influence in Dhaka sparks false propaganda to destabilize Bangladesh

Islamabad: As India’s influence in Dhaka continues to decline, New Delhi has resorted to a disinformation campaign, falsely claiming that it thwarted a coup in Bangladesh.

According to Kashmir Media Service, this baseless narrative, which implicates Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI, has been thoroughly debunked, with no credible evidence to support the allegations. Pakistan has plainly rejected these claims, reaffirming its respect for Bangladesh’s sovereignty.

The failed attempt by India to maintain political control in Bangladesh has led to increasing frustration within Indian political and military circles. Historically, India has been known for undermining regional stability and manipulating narratives to further its strategic interests. Now, with Bangladesh slipping beyond its influence, India appears to be using propaganda as a tool to destabilize Dhaka and malign Pakistan.

India’s ongoing efforts to manipulate regional narratives through misinformation are seen as a desperate attempt to counteract its declining influence in Bangladesh. The Indian media has played a central role in spreading these falsehoods, aiming to weaken Bangladesh’s sovereignty, a tactic India has long used against its neighbors to assert regional dominance.

Amid rising internal dissent and increasing politicization of its military, India’s propaganda machine has shifted focus, targeting Bangladesh and Pakistan with fabricated stories to deflect attention from its own mounting challenges and failures.

Experts caution that India’s troubling history of interference in the affairs of neighboring countries is reflected in its latest tactics. These efforts to spread disinformation are part of a broader pattern of undermining Bangladesh’s sovereignty and distracting from India’s internal issues.
