Aug 5, 2019 marked a new chapter of India’s deceit in IIOJK: Rasheed Turabi

Karachi: Former Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Abdul Rasheed Turabi, has said that on August 5, 2019, India committed “constitutional terrorism” by revoking the special status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, opening a new chapter of deceit and betrayal.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to journalists at the Karachi Press Club, Turabi said that Kashmiris have been fighting for their survival for over seven decades. After October 27, 1947, India delivered another severe blow in 2019 by attempting to erase Kashmirs’ identity, culture, and heritage. He said the people of Kashmir are bravely resisting Indian conspiracies, and their freedom struggle remains unwavering.
Turabi noted that thousands of Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders and women, are languishing in Indian jails. He said Pakistan’s successful “Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos” and its strong diplomatic stance have further strengthened and invigorated the Kashmir freedom movement. “The sacrifices of our martyrs keep the struggle alive and vibrant,” he added.
On the occasion, Karachi Press Club Secretary Sohail Afzal Khan, Treasurer Imran Ayub, Joint Secretary Muhammad Munsif, Governing Body members Mona Siddiqui, Qazi Yasir, Muhammad Farooq, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist-Dastoor Secretary A.H. Khanzada, Karachi Union of Journalists-Dastoor President Nasrullah Chaudhry, and a large number of journalists were present.
Kashmiri leader Nazir Qureshi also briefed the gathering on diplomatic efforts, stating that campaigns to highlight the Kashmir issue are underway in the UK and at various international forums. He stressed that the struggle will continue as long as a single Indian soldier remains in Kashmir.
