Modi bowed to Trump’s ultimatum in India-Pak military clash: Rahul Gandhi
Patna: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi once again targeted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi over US President Donald Trump’s claim that India had halted military conflict with Pakistan after receiving an American ultimatum.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking at a rally in Runni Saidpur, Sitamarhi, in Bihar, Rahul Gandhi questioned Modi’s leadership. “What type of Prime Minister do we have? He brags about a 56-inch chest, but when Trump said he called Modi and asked him to stop the conflict within 24 hours, Modi obeyed within five hours, like a deflated tyre,” Gandhi remarked. He said that the episode showed Modi was a coward and that his image was “manufactured by friends with deep pockets and the media.”
The Congress leader further attacked Modi, saying that when he challenged him in Parliament to refute Trump’s statement, the Prime Minister “did not have the courage to speak a word.”
Turning to domestic politics, Rahul Gandhi said that the so-called “Gujarat model” was based on “vote chori (theft of votes).” He said irregularities in Maharashtra’s 2019 assembly polls, where the Congress polled votes on par with the Lok Sabha elections but saw the BJP’s tally surge suspiciously. He said that requests for CCTV footage were denied by the Election Commission, which he accused of enjoying immunity granted by the Modi government. Gandhi asserted that his party had uncovered anomalies in electoral rolls and promised to release evidence of manipulations in 70–80 Lok Sabha seats within six months.
