3 Bangladeshis hurt as Indian BSF fires pellets on border village

Lalmonirhat: India’s Border Security Force (BSF) pellet firing near a border village has injured three Bangladeshi villagers in Bangladesh.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the BSF fired three to four pellets in the Sreerampur border area of Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat district, injuring three Bangladeshi villagers.

Following the incident, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) called for a flag meeting, but the BSF reportedly did not respond to the request.

Local residents said the injured villagers were secretly receiving treatment at a private hospital in Rangpur, though detailed information about their condition could not be obtained.

BGB officials confirmed that Indian forces of the 156-BSF Battalion from the Ratanpur camp patrol team fired three to four pellets at around 6:00 a.m.

A resident of Sreerampur said, “On my way back from prayers, I saw injured people being taken away on a motorcycle.”

This incident comes just five days after the BSF fired three sound grenades in the same border area.
