Kishtwar Nursing students protest over academic delay
Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, students of the 2022 batch of a Nursing College in Kishtwar, affiliated with Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, staged a protest against inordinate delay in completion of their BSc Nursing course.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the agitating students said as per Indian Nursing Council guidelines, the BSc Nursing programme is mandated to be completed within four years. However, they claimed that while institutions affiliated with the University of Jammu and the University of Kashmir have progressed to the seventh semester, they have not yet completed even their fifth semester.
The students said the delay has resulted in a setback of nearly two years in their academic schedule, adversely affecting their professional prospects. They expressed concern that prolonged delay in conducting examinations and declaring results has disrupted their academic calendar and career planning.
The protesters urged the university authorities to intervene and ensure timely conduct of pending examinations and completion of the remaining semesters without further delay.
They said their future opportunities, including higher studies and employment, are being compromised due to the academic lag.
The students appealed to the authorities concerned to align the course schedule with the prescribed norms and prevent further loss of academic time.
