Kali Sena gives June 1 deadline to vacate Uttarakhand Jamia Masjid

Dehradun : As the Muslims of India celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, Bhupesh Joshi, the Uttarakhand state convener of the ‘Kali Sena’ organization, reached Jamia Masjid, Thano, Uttarakhand, along with administrative officials and warned a senior mosque official, Aseem, in a threatening tone to vacate the mosque by June 1.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Joshi dismissed their documents, saying valid papers would have prevented action, and suggested approaching the High Court or Supreme Court.
In a video recorded on Thursday, Bhupesh Joshi, President of Uttarakhand Kali Sena, is seen directly instructing Aseem to vacate the premises.
Joshi stated that out of respect for the ongoing Eid festival, his group had requested the district administration not to seal the mosque immediately. However, he warned that failure to vacate by the June 1 deadline would result in the building being sealed.
The video also shows police personnel present at the site, standing as observers without intervening in the confrontation.
This incident has raised concerns about communal tensions during a major religious festival. The demand has sparked debate over the legal status of the mosque property and the timing of such actions.
Local authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the matter, while the mosque committee is expected to respond to the notice. The development has drawn attention to the delicate balance between law enforcement and religious sentiments in the state.
