Murtaza Solangi urges UN to honour promises made to Kashmiri people
Islamabad: Pakistan caretaker Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, has reiterated the commitment of the government and people of Pakistan to continue their support to the Kashmir cause.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Murtaza Solangi in a message on the occasion of Kashmiris’ Self-Determination Day, today (Friday) said the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP) adopted a resolution on this day in 1949 giving the Kashmiris the right to decide their future as per their wishes.
Today, over seven decades have passed since this promise made to the Kashmiri people, but unfortunately this promise has not been fulfilled till date, he lamented.
The minister urged the United Nations to honour the promises made to the Kashmiri people and support their struggle for right to self-determination. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are waiting for a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute as per the resolutions of the United Nations, he maintained.
Murtaza Solangi said India is attempting to strengthen its grip on occupied Jammu and Kashmir, adding the decision of the Indian Supreme Court on 11 December 2023 that validated the Modi regime’s illegal action of repealing the special status of occupied Kashmir on August 05, 2019 is the latest step in this direction.
