The memorandum highlights the JKDFF’s apprehensions about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindutva agenda, condemning measures that aim to alter the demographic composition of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The group stressed the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people in their ongoing struggle for self-determination, while decrying India’s heavy-handed military response marked by human rights violations.
The JKDFF draws attention to historical grievances, citing India’s anti-Kashmir policy since 1947 and the forced occupation of the territory. The recent repeal of Article 370 and Article 35A from the Indian Constitution is presented as a violation of fundamental rights, resulting in the region being labeled the “world’s largest jail” since August 5, 2019.
The group strongly urged the international community to recognize the inalienable right of self-determination for the people of Jammu Kashmir, calling for a just and democratic solution in line with UNSC resolutions. The memorandum concludes with a condemnation of the life imprisonment of pro-freedom Kashmiri leader Muhammad Yasin Malik as an act of Indian state terrorism.
