LAB, KDA discuss Indian Lok Sabha poll boycott
Leh: The Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) held a joint meeting in Leh, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and discussed several options to intensify their agitation in support of their demands for Statehood and Sixth Schedule status, including possible boycott of upcoming Indian parliamentary elections.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the meeting, however, is yet to take a final decision. There were reports that the two bodies might consult stakeholders and meet again before taking the call.
Indian Lok Sabha seat in the Ladakh is scheduled to go to polls in fifth phase on May 20.
The LAB and KDA leadership discussed series of measures to intensify agitation for grant of Statehood and Sixth Schedule status to Ladakh during two hours long meeting.
“A decision is expected to be announced shortly,” the insiders said. However, no official statement was released after the meeting.
