IIOJK employees warned against demonstrations, strike
Srinagar: In a blatant violation of democratic norms,, authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have issued a warning to government employees, threatening them with dire consequences for their involvement in demonstrations or strikes.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the warning comes after the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department (PDD) received reports that some employees were planning to hold protests against the anti-people policies of the authorities.
The circular issued by the PDD cites Rule 20 (ii) of the Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees (Conduct) Rules, 1971, which prohibits government employees from participating in any form of strike related to their service or the service of any other government employee.
The PDD has warned that employees who participate in strikes or demonstrations, or who are found organizing such events, will be dealt with strictly as per law.
This warning is a clear attempt by the authorities to suppress dissent and prevent government employees from exercising their right to protest against injustice and oppression. It is a violation of the fundamental rights of government employees and a further erosion of democracy in IIOJK.
