Rahul questions credibility of Lok Sabha elections after BJP leader elected unopposed
New Delhi: In India, the leader of the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi, has raised questions on the credibility of Indian parliamentary elections after Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate Mukesh Dalal was elected unopposed from Surat Lok Sabha constituency in Gujarat state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Rahul Gandhi in a tweet reacted strongly to the cancellation of the nomination papers of Congress Party candidate Nilesh Kumbhani and the unopposed election of BJP leader Mukesh Dalal. He compared the BJP leader’s unopposed victory to dictatorship. While doing so, he said, “The real ‘face’ of dictatorship is once again in front of the people”.
On the other hand, Congress Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh in a statement also said that democracy is in danger in India. He said the nomination papers of the candidate of Congress Party from this seat have been canceled while all other candidates except BJP have submitted their nomination papers. He said that the Lok Sabha elections on the Surat seat was a game-fix.
