Singapore, Hong Kong ban import of ‘cancer-causing’ spices from India
New Delhi: Singapore and Hong Kong have imposed a ban on the import of ‘cancer-causing’ spices from India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Singapore and Hong Kong have announced a ban on the spices of India’s two famous spice brands, MDH Pvt Ltd and Everest Food Products Pvt Ltd. The brands of spices have been banned after they were found to contain cancer-causing ingredients.
The carcinogenic disinfectant ethylene oxide has been found in the spices of MDH and Everest companies. After receiving the report, Singapore first banned these brands in its country and now Hong Kong has also announced a ban on them.
Earlier, Singapore banned the sale of Everest fish curry spices last week. The Singapore Food Agency claimed that the spice contained high levels of ethylene oxide, which is harmful to human health and causes cancer.
