Unresolved Kashmir dispute may lead south Asia towards huge death and destruction: Speakers
Islamabad: Kashmir issue is a multilateral as well as multifaceted issue having potential to lead the world in general and South Asia in particular towards war, and without resolving this longstanding issue peace and prosperity in this region will remain a pipedream.
The seminar was organized on the eve of International Day of Multilateralism and diplomacy at Kashmir House Islamabad. Among the speakers who talked on importance of immediate solution of Kashmir issue were Ambassador Nafees Zakriya, Nadir Al-Turak the deputy Head of Mission of Palestine, Ambassador Abdul Basit, Ambassador Zamir Awan, Senator Mushtaq Ahmad, Dr Talat Shabir, Chairperson AK China Centre, ISSI, Dr Mujahid Gilani, President Kashmir Youth Alliance, Abdul Hameed Lone, Vice chairman, Friends of Kashmir International, Syed Manzoor Ahmed Shah, Ittehad Islami J&K, Ambassador Babar Amin and Shahzad Khan, president Youth Council Pakistan.
They were of the view that Kashmir conflict is a dynamic book with chapters covering every aspect of the whole issue. “We need to study each chapter in detail, so international representation can be made without flaw: the speakers reiterated.
The said that with ongoing Kashmir freedom struggle we have to look into the chapter of Kashmiri political prisoners and this need to be sought out by diplomatic means to ensure that these prisoners are voice of dissension, not criminals.
Giving examples of Yasin Malik, Dr Qasim Factoo, Mussarat Alam Bhat, Syeda Asiya Andrabi and others saying that these people who are in reality the ‘prisoners of conscience’ need to be discussed internationally in prism of freedom fighters instead of Indian lens.
Pakistan must send informed and educated envoys to smallest countries having representation in UN to garner maximum support and give more voice to realities of Kashmir through these countries, the seasoned diplomats and social activists went of]n to say.
